Nightmare adds 60 percent damage, 60 percent health, and 10 percent speed on top of every Danger 5 rule, plus fog and environmental shots. You unlock it by winning Danger 5 ten times on different characters or maps. Update 1.2 says it softened Crash Zone's wave spikes and several Nightmare enemies. I do not have a before-and-after table for those spikes, so I quote the direction only.
I looked for a Nightmare-only build catalog and did not find one I trust more than a Danger 5 list with the label rubbed off. brotato-builds ranks characters from successful builds that read as Danger 5. The Steam all-character guide predates the mode. Moving a Danger 5 set onto Nightmare is a community inference. I label it that way on the character pages people actually search, such as Streamer, Arms Dealer, and Cyborg.
Wounded is the character the mode unlocks, and Wounded dies in one hit. That is a different build problem from 'take the S-tier gun.' Start from the character page, then add the Nightmare modifiers, instead of the other way around.
