Plan the walking route before the range payoff
Editorial purchase advice based on the facts and interaction source cited on this page.
Hiking Pole is a Support weapon whose range grows through steps, with a different step requirement at each tier. Our editorial recommendation is to judge its immediate damage and reach before valuing a long future walk. A weapon that will eventually have excellent range still has to clear the current wave. The displayed scaling text is retained from the source rather than expanded into unnamed attributes. No damage calculator result is inferred from a template whose original scaling icons are absent.
Hiker is a natural comparison because its own material and health gains also depend on steps. Walking along an open route supports both plans, while holding movement into a wall is not a substitute for actual travel. Vagabond offers a different comparison: the Support class may contribute through its class sharing rule, but a second identical Hiking Pole is incompatible with its duplicate weapon restriction. Treat the weapon's class bonus and its individual range growth as separate effects.
For Danger 5 and Nightmare, our advice is to preserve enough damage to reopen a route when enemies block the walking circuit. More accumulated reach cannot compensate for walking into a closed lane. Compare a tier upgrade with a missing recovery source or armor when contact is ending the run. The Wiki supplies the tier timings and step thresholds; these movement and shopping suggestions are editorial consequences of those rules, rather than measured completion rates for a specific build.
Hiking Pole is an Abyssal Terrors support weapon. The wiki template's tier line, which I am willing to quote as one source, runs damage 12, 18, 24, 30 with a plus 50 percent and plus 10 percent note, attack speed 1.42, 1.34, 1.25, 1.17 seconds, range 175, and a 1.5 times crit at 3 percent. Every 70, 60, 50, then 40 steps the range grows by 1, depending on tier. A character's base step rate is given as 3.33 steps per second and speed changes it. Walking into a wall does not count. Support weapons share a class bonus that adds harvesting as you collect more support items, which is why Hiker is the character I would open first. I do not have a second database confirming the tier table, so the status stays one wiki source.

FAQ
Is this number from two sources?
The item and weapon templates I used are the community wiki. Where I only had that page, the note says so.
Which set includes Hiking Pole?
The copied field list places Hiking Pole in Abyssal Terrors. I do not move a character between sets to match a tier list.
