Editorial strategy: recommendations below follow the cited character rules; the source table records the underlying facts.

Build and shop priorities

Hiker earns materials and maximum health through steps, while its ordinary material drops are reduced. Our editorial opening is a weapon that remains useful while the character keeps walking. Support options such as Hiking Pole fit the movement discussion, but a step bonus is not a reason to retain an underpowered weapon indefinitely. Speed has a favorable modifier, yet a controllable route matters more than moving so quickly that turns cause collisions. Look for an open circuit around the arena, then compare each shop purchase with how it improves clearing or the ability to keep that circuit safe.

Unlock and clear reward

The unlock requires twenty thousand steps. Hiker's clear reward is Scarf. Steps, rather than time spent pressing a movement key against a wall, are the relevant counter. The Hiking Pole source explicitly distinguishes actual movement from walking into a wall. Keep that movement requirement separate from a weapon's tier dependent range growth.

Character source:Walk a total of 20000 steps. Clear reward:Scarf.

Danger 5 decisions

For Danger 5, the safest route can change when an elite or boss controls part of the map. Do not insist on completing the same circuit for income after the exit is blocked. Buy enough damage to reopen space, and choose personal defense when the step economy already provides plenty of offense or health. Movement income is useful only while the character can continue moving safely.

Nightmare risk planning

Nightmare puts more pressure on Hiker's route planning because durable enemies can remain in the next section of the circuit. Our recommendation is to turn before a lane closes and preserve room to change direction. Compare additional speed with its practical effect on control. A smaller safe path with uninterrupted steps can be preferable to a wide route that repeatedly forces dangerous contact.

Compare the weapon classes and available stats, unlock entry, Danger 5 rules, and Nightmare changes before adapting the loadout.

Hiker banks materials by walking. Before 1.2 the wiki said 5 materials every 10 steps and a speed penalty. The 1.2 patch note changes that to 5 materials every 8 steps and removes the move-speed penalty. I follow the patch note for the live rule and I mention the older line so a wiki paragraph does not look like I ignored it. You still gain 1 max health every 80 steps, material drops are halved, and the unlock is 20,000 steps walked. A clear unlocks Scarf. MetaBrotato and the Steam guide both treat Hiker as a walking economy character. Hiking Pole, the support weapon that gains range as you walk, is the obvious partner and has its own page.

FAQ

Which Hiker number is current?

I use the 1.2 patch note: 5 materials every 8 steps, without the old speed penalty.

Which set includes Hiker?

The copied field list places Hiker in Abyssal Terrors. I do not move a character between sets to match a tier list.
