Editorial strategy: recommendations below follow the cited character rules; the source table records the underlying facts.
Build and shop priorities
Ogre turns sufficiently large hits on enemies into explosions, making the size of an individual hit relevant alongside ordinary sustained damage. Our editorial opening favors a compatible melee attack with meaningful impact, then enough attack speed and movement control to avoid being trapped between swings. Ranged weapons are unavailable. The starting melee damage helps the overkill direction, while the attack speed and speed penalties make blind pursuit of the largest weapon number risky. Compare a weapon's damage against its actual ability to connect with targets. An expensive hit that misses or lands too late does not create a useful explosion.
Unlock and clear reward
Deal one thousand damage to an enemy in a single hit to unlock Ogre. Clearing with Ogre unlocks Ogre's clear reward as listed in the source table. The single hit wording matters: many small attacks totaling one thousand damage are a different achievement. Use the character's unlock line when planning the challenge rather than interpreting a high overall damage statistic as equivalent.
Character source:Deal 1000 damage to an enemy in a single hit. Clear reward:Mace.
Danger 5 decisions
For Danger 5, use weaker enemies as opportunities for the overkill effect while preserving a route away from durable threats. Boss pressure can expose a build that only clears well when a chain of small targets is available. Improve focused damage when necessary and buy enough defense to survive a missed swing. The character's slower movement makes late repositioning especially expensive.
Nightmare risk planning
Nightmare's tougher enemies can make an overkill threshold harder to reach with the same weapon setup. Our recommendation is to reassess hit strength and coverage rather than assuming every kill still creates the expected explosion. Do not sacrifice all attack speed to reach a theoretical damage number. A controlled melee sequence with an exit often has more practical value than a huge but unsafe hit.
Compare the weapon classes and available stats, unlock entry, Danger 5 rules, and Nightmare changes before adapting the loadout.
Ogre makes an enemy explode for 10 damage when you hit it for more than its maximum health. Melee damage is plus 10, ranged weapons are banned, attack speed is modified by minus 50 percent, and speed by minus 10 percent. The unlock is dealing 1,000 damage to an enemy in one hit. A clear unlocks Mace. MetaBrotato calls this an explosive melee run. I keep the overkill explosion as the reason to take slow, heavy melee rather than a fast low-damage spear.

FAQ
What does an Ogre clear unlock?
Mace. The character unlock is a single hit of 1,000 damage.
Which set includes Ogre?
The copied field list places Ogre in Abyssal Terrors. I do not move a character between sets to match a tier list.
