Editorial strategy: recommendations below follow the cited character rules; the source table records the underlying facts.
Build and shop priorities
Farmer's reduced material drops make harvesting and consumable use central to the opening economy. Our editorial plan is an affordable weapon family, early harvesting when clearing remains comfortable, and enough recovery to make full health pickups realistic. The additional end of wave harvesting growth is a percentage in the character rule, rather than a flat three points. Garden is the updated starting item described by the patch coverage. Do not damage the early wave clear in pursuit of an economy that pays later; keeping enemies manageable creates the time and space needed to collect useful consumables.
Unlock and clear reward
Reach plus two hundred harvesting to unlock Farmer. Farmer's own clear reward is Wheat. The challenge is about the harvesting stat, not the number of materials sitting in the wallet. When planning the unlock on another character, check that character's harvesting modifiers; Knight's penalty makes it a very different route from an economy friendly choice.
Character source:Reach +200 Harvesting. Clear reward:Wheat.
Danger 5 decisions
For Danger 5, reassess when to stop buying future income and buy current damage instead. A large harvesting value does not remove an elite. Consumables at full health add harvesting through Farmer's rule, but crossing a dangerous pack to obtain one can cost more than it gains. Use a route that gathers food without giving up the ability to retreat.
Nightmare risk planning
Nightmare increases the risk of relying on a late economy payoff while early clearing falls behind. Prefer purchases that preserve the farming loop: enough damage to control space, enough protection to remain healthy, then more income. Our recommendation is to review the weakest next wave before every economy purchase. Treat the harvesting plan differently in Endless, where the post wave twenty harvesting rules change.
Compare the weapon classes and available stats, unlock entry, Danger 5 rules, and Nightmare changes before adapting the loadout.
Farmer is the harvesting character. The page gives plus 20 harvesting, an additional 3% Harvesting growth at the end of each wave, and plus 1 harvesting when you eat a consumable at full health. Material drops are cut by 50 percent. The unlock is reaching plus 200 harvesting. A clear unlocks Wheat. Update 1.2 starts Farmer with Garden. I use the patch note for that starting item and the wiki for the older harvesting rules, and I say so when they could be read as two eras. The Steam guide and MetaBrotato both talk about Farmer as an economy run.
