Online with friends
Updated for Brotato 1.2.0.1 · checked 2026-11-05

Path one is Steam Remote Play Together. You invite a friend, they stream your game, and the notes around that feature say the remote player needs a controller while the host can use a keyboard. It is still your copy of the game.
Path two is the Workshop. Two mods show up under the Brotatogether name: one labeled a multiplayer mod, and one labeled networked multiplayer with Steam lobbies. They are mods, so they follow the mod install rules and they can break on a patch. Update 1.2 told players to disable stale mods.
I am not writing a Parsec guide. I do not have a source I am willing to cite for that route. Epic and phones do not gain Steam Remote Play just because the PC version has it.

FAQ
Can two PCs join a Brotato server?
Not an official one. Use Remote Play Together or a Workshop lobby mod, and expect the mod to lag the patch.
Does the remote friend need the game?
Remote Play Together streams the host's copy. A lobby mod is a separate arrangement and I only name the Workshop items I saw.
